2026 Knockout Cup – Quarter Final – 1st Leg Results

We start the new year with our 2026 Winter Knockout. Two teams, The Godfather and Crazy Spoon, gained a bye directly into the semi-finals. With a change in the format, the knockout is being played with no doubles matches, only six singles, played both home and away. Each match is the best of three. We have introduced a new handicap system which has had an exciting impact of the very 1st match. Exciting 1st leg results take teams through to the 2nd leg return matches with one match all square at 10/10, the other with one team playing catch up. We also saw Petsas Rangers wearing the new Paphos8Ball Pool League team tops!

The Meeting Pub vs Petsas Rangers

This match was the first to use the new handicap system giving The Meeting Pub a 1 point head start.

The 1st match was between Dave and Mark P. After Mark potted 5 balls off the break, a back-and-forth game pursued, with Dave keeping the game safe and both potting a couple more balls. Mark was snookered on the black but played a great double off the top cushion to win the 1st frame. The 2nd frame saw a battle commence with both players taking turns to pot balls. Dave then showed his prowess and won the game with a three-ball clearance. Frame 3 was also a tight affair with the game coming down to the black. Dave took on a long black down the cushion to see it jaw, leaving mark an easy black to claim the victory 1-2.

Match 2 was a game between Big Lee and Petsas Rangers newly signed Chris Innes. Both games were a battle, but Chris managed to show through, winning 2-0, giving Rangers all 3 points. Match 3 was a battle of the Mo’s. It was again three close matches, but Rangers Mo, swung the victory winning 1-2.

Score was now (including handicap) was 3-7 to Petsas Rangers.

The 4th match was between Glenn and Mark F. Glenn was on fire and after two hard-fought games he managed to take the win 2-0.  Match 5 was a match between The Meeting Pub captain Sandy and another new signing for Rangers Paul Chadwick. After 2 games it was 1-1 with a big decider to play. The final back and forth game saw Paul pull through to win 1-2.

After 5 matches the score was a tight 7-9 to Rangers.

This left a big last match with the pressure on Big Lee to try and beat Pete 2-0 and take the match. However, after a big performance by Pete in the 1st game, he managed to grab the 1st leg and the advantage to Petsas for the 2nd leg. The remaining two games were then won by Lee to take the victory. Final score was The Meeting Pub 9, Petsas Rangers 10.

However, with The Meeting Pub gaining a handicap point in the return match at Petsas Rangers, they start again with an extra point. This match starts with the 2nd leg all square at 10/10.

Petsas Restaurant vs The Bottlebank

This match was postponed and played on Monday. Petsas Restaurant playing the 1st leg at home saw Pampos take on Roy, with Roy taking the spoils with a 0-2 win giving The Bottlebank 3 points. The 2nd match saw another 3 points go the way of The Bottlebank with Panikkos Petrou (the potting machine!) sealing the win. The 3rd match was between Achileas and Panikos Lambrianides with Panikos winning 1-2.

The Bottlebank were off to a flying start in this 1st leg of the Cup with a score so far, 1 – 8.

The 4th match was between Lall and Aristos, with Lall clocking up some much needed points for Petsas winning the match 2-1. The 5th match between Mike, with his new bionic knees, and Charis, with Charis winning 2-0. The final match was between Restaurant captain Demetris and Andros. With Demetris overcoming his opponent he won the 1st two frames giving Petsas a much needed 3 points to take to the away match at The Bottlebank (being played at Julies Bar in Kissonerga).

Final score Petsas Restaurant 6 – The Bottlebank 12. Petsas will have to do a big turnaround to get through to the semi-final.
