Round Up from 26 Nov 2025
We have to start this weeks review with the amazing clearance by Panikkos one of the best players on Cyprus playing for The Bottlebank against Petsas Rangers on 28 November 2025.
The Bottlebank vs Petsas Rangers
This match was played on Friday 28th November due to The Bottlebank players going to watch Paphos AFC play at home against Monaco (which they drew 2-2).
This was going to be retribution for The Bottlebank after Petsas Rangers won the first fixture 12-9 at home. Playing on a different table than they are used to and the loss of their captain Michelle due to illness, Rangers new this game was going to be a struggle. That said the 1st doubles made it look promising for Rangers with a victory by the John Monnolly & John Powers over Panikos & Chris. This advantage was to be short lived with the second match being won by Roy & Andreas beating Terry & Pete. Next the first singles was played due to late arrival of a Bottlebank player. This 1st singles match featured Panikos and Rangers stalwart Terry, but Terry could not overcome the potting of Panikos who won the match and the 3 points. Match score 4 – 1 to The Bottlebank. The 2nd singles saw two close games between Andreas & Pete. Pete had his chance to win one game but fluffed it on a straight black to give Andreas a 2-0 win claiming another 3 points. Match score 7-1. Next up was the remaining doubles match between Aristos & Panikkos Petrou and Wayne & Mark. This match was a pleasure to watch which is exactly what Aristos, Wayne and Mark did as Panikkos broke off and then proceeded to pot all his balls and the black in one fell swoop. A round of applause was truly deserved. Match score 8-1.The 3rd singles was between Aristos and John P. After a potting battle Aristos managed to gain a victory of 2-0 taking all 3 points, the victory and payback for The Bottlebank. Match score 11 – 1. Still only on match 4, Roy took on John M. Despite a good performance by John he couldn’t beat the potting prowess of Roy who took the win 2-0 and another 3 points. Match score 14 – 1. Match 5 saw Panikkos P take on Wayne. After potting the white off the break, all Wayne could do was watch… again. Panikkos stepped up with his two shots and a free table, and with just one shot proceeded to pot all 7 of his balls and the black giving everyone a lesson in pool. When Panikkos broke of for the 2nd game there was a big cheer when nothing went down. Come on Wayne… but his chance was short lived as after potting his first ball his second shot leaded to the white ball being potted. The door was wide open for Panikkos who swiftly cleared the table gaining yet another 3 points for The Bottlebank and match score 17 – 1. Surely Rangers could get points from the last game even if it was just for pride. A close game prevailed between both players, but Mark managed to just get over the winning line to take the match 2-0 giving Petsas 3 points.
Final score Bottlebank 17 - Rangers 4. A very good evening was had by both teams, and a big thank you goes out to Chris The Bottlebank landlord who did a spectacular amount of food for both teams and the bar to enjoy.
Next week: Top of the table clash for The Bottlebank against Crazy Spoons and Petsas have a double home match with the Restaurant Team playing the Rangers Team.
Crazy Spoons vs Aces
This was Aces first visit to Crazy Spoons hoping to avenge the 5-16 defeat they received in the home fixture. Aces turned up with 7 players, but it was decided that Phoebe was not allowed to play due to her arthritis. The 1st doubles saw a technical and tactical game between Darren & Judy vs Spyros & Vasillis which was won by Darren and Judy leaving Aces with 3 balls remaining. The 2nd doubles saw Stefan & Andrew take on Omar & Rob. Omar broke leaving an open table, giving Stefan the chance to pot five consecutive balls in a row. The game went back and forth leaving Crazy’s with the black ball and Aces two yellows. Andrew finished the game, cutting the black ball in from an acute angle to take the win.
With Spoons waiting for a player to arrive, the 1st singles got under way between Stefan & Omar, but Omar couldn’t stop the potting prowess of Stefan who took this first game. Stefan potted another 5 in a row in the 2nd game and although Omar fought back before letting Stefan back in to pot his remaining colour and the black. Result 3-0 to Spoons. Spoons now with a 5-0 lead with the last doubles to be played. This double saw Allan & Luke for Spoons take on Panos & Frenchie for Aces. This was a tight game played by both teams. With only two reds left Frenchies fouled giving Allan two shots. Allan proceeded to pot five yellow balls but missing the last yellow gave Panos the chance to pot the remaining two reds and treble the black into the middle to win the game. Score 5 – 1 to Spoons. Next the 2nd singles with Allan back on the table against Frenchie. A close 1st game was won by Allan with a four ball clearance and an even better 5 ball clearance to win the 2nd game. Crazy Spoons now 8-1 ahead of Aces. The 3rd singles match saw Judy pit her wits against Rob who had a good game to take the lead. In the 2nd game Judy took control potting all her balls to Robs two, leaving just the black ball. Having potted 4 balls, Robs last ball got stuck on the pocket. Judy misses the black and Rob must have blinked as he missed his ball in the pocket,1giving 2 shots and the game to Judy. The 3rd game was a tentative affair with neither wanting to lose the match. Rob tried a treble on the black but left it over the pocket. This leaves Judy with a straight red to pot to have an easy finish, but she jaws the red, leaving Rob with an easy black to claim the match 2-1. Score now 9-3 to Spoons. This is now a critical stage for Aces needing to win all remaining games 3-0 to take the four points. The next match saw Andrew against Spyros. A close first game came down to the black ball and was finally won by Andrew. The 2nd game another close game, but Spoons Captain Andrew pulled out another win to claim 3 points and the match; score12-3. Singles match 5 was a contest between Darren & Panos. A back and forth game with both players potting with some good shots, but Panos missing the yellow ball, with a foul, gave Darren two shots; Darren graciously received to finish off the game. Darren took control of the 2nd game Darren with a four-ball clearance and an exquisite double on the black leaving Panos stunned with six balls remaining. Score 15-3 to Spoons. The last match of the evening saw Luke take on Vasillis. Both games saw Luke dominate with two five ball clearances and was the best player of the evening, taking another three points for Spoons.

Petsas Restaurant vs Charleys Meeting Pub
This was a chance for Petsas Restaurant to avenge the away fixture dubbing of 17-4, after only being able to field four players for the fixture. Lall & Lee for Petsas took on the little & large Lee’s with a win to Petsas. The 2nd doubles was a match between Pambos & Demetris taking on Dave & Sandy, with Pambos & Dimitris taking the win. The final doubles was a battle between Alexis & Achileas and Glyn & Mo. The match was won by Alexis & Achileas, giving the Restaurant team a 3-0 headstart. The 1st singles match saw Petsas Lee taking all 3 points with a 2-0 win over Glen. In reverse of fortunes saw Dave win 2-0 over Lall and clawed back 3 points for The Meeting Pub. We saw a cagey game played by Sandy to win both his matches and another 3 points for The Meeting Pub…. Match score 6 all. The tide changed and besides Mo’s best efforts he couldn’t stop Achileas who won 2-0. Score 9-6 to the Restaurant Team. The 5th singles match was a chance for Alexis to win the night requiring just two points to take the victory, but a strong performance from Glyn saw him win both games and the three points. Score a nail biting 9-9 with last match to play. The last match and big decider saw Demetris play the bigger of The Meeting Pubs Lees’ but it was not to be for Lee or The Meeting Pub with Demetris stepping up as Captain winning 2-0 and claiming not only the 3 points but also the victory and the Restaurants revenge from the previous meeting.
Final score a close 12 - 9
