The Meeting Pub vs Aces

The Meeting Pub were seeking to avenge Aces Bar who took the spoils with a close 11 – 10 victory at their 1st meeting. With the 1st doubles between Bob & Mo against Frenchie & Panos the win went to Aces giving them a 0-1 lead. The 2nd doubles saw Glyn & Big Lee take on Billy & Rob. Glyn & Lee took the win to level the score 1 – 1. The last doubles match featured Dave & Captain Sandy against Spyros & new signing Joe Hussain. This decisive doubles match was won by Dave & Sandy to take Meeting Pub into the lead 2 – 1. Onto the singles with the 1st game between champion barman Mo and Captain Spyros with Spyros potting showing the way with a 0-2 victory putting Aces back in the lead 2-4. The 2nd singles involved Bob taking on Panos with an outright win for Bob, putting the lead back in the favor of The Meeting Pub; match score so far 5-4. Next The Meeting Pubs’ top stats man Glyn facing off against Billy. This showed why Glyn is at position 9 in stats winning 2-0 win. Score now 8-4 to The Meeting Pub. The next match was closely fought with Rob taking the rewards with a 2-1 win over Meeting Pub player Big Lee. Score now 9-6. Could the 5th player for the Meeting Pub clinch the match? Dave & Frenchie battled with Dave crossing the line for The Meeting Pub with a 2 – 1 lead clinching the match victory. Score so far 11 – 7. The last singles for Aces was a game of pride as Omar took on The Meeting Pubs’ captain Sandy but it was not to be for Omar as Sandy claimed the final win with a 2-0 score line giving The Meeting Pub the remaining 3 points, and victory.

The Bottlebank vs Crazy Spoon

Big top of the table match with The Bottlebank hoping to turn the tables on the loss they received at Crazy Spoons at their last meeting. The 1st doubles saw Panikkos & Chris take on Stefan & Andy with a win for The Bottlebank starting their campaign of the evening. The 2nd match between Charis & Aristos against Allan & Luke. The Bottlebank victory gave them a 2nd point. The last doubles match between Roy & Andreas and Darren & Judy. Another win by The Bottlebank; a 3-0 lead going into the singles. The 1st singles match was between Panikkos & Stefan. Sefan had a singles record of seven wins out of seven and kept up his unbeaten run with a 2-0 win collecting all 3 points to level up the match 3 – 3. The 2nd singles was between the seniors of both teams with Roy taking on Luke. Luke managed to pull through to win the match 2-0 claiming the 3 points to push Crazy Spoons back into the lead with a score of 3-6. Next up Andreas took on The Melling Masher Allan. After a tough game for both players Andreas took the final leg to win the match 2-1. Match score 5 -7. Next saw Captain Aristos take on the X-English County Player Judy. After a bit of a battle Judy took the win 1-2, moving Crazy Spoons further ahead with a score of 6 - 9. The 4th singles was a really competitive match between Charis and another previously undefeated singles player Darren, but Darren has now lost this undefeated run with Charis potting his way to a 2-1 victory. Match score is now 8-10. The last match was a match decider with Chris needing a 2-0 victory against Andy. Despite a valiant effort by Bottlebank landlord Chris, Andy had a triumphant 2-0 win to win the match for Crazy Spoons. Another good night was had by all players. Also, a big thank you to landlord Chris for his amazing food and drink as per usual.

Petsas Rangers vs Petsas Restaurant

Rangers won the 1st meeting between this local derby; this was a chance for the Restaurant team to have payback. With an under-strength Rangers side due to illness, the Restaurant team gained two new players to the league; a battle was in the balance. The 1st doubles saw Mark Phillips & Mo take on Pampos & Achileas. A close game ensued, but Mark & Mo managed to scrape over the line to give Rangers a 1-0 start to the match. Next up… Terry & Pete took on Alexis & Demetris. After a few exchanges, Demetris’ potting ability shone through to get the victory for the Restaurant team; match score 1 apiece. 3rd up Michelle & DJ Wayne took on the new pairing of Mike Zackodnik back from his 2nd knee replacement and Rob James. The game went back & forth, until a mistake by Wayne gave the advantage to the Restaurant team leaving Rob to finish the game; Restaurant team gained 1-2 advantage. The 1st singles match was between Mark Phillips & Achileas. After some bad luck by Achileas fouling on numerous occasions Mark managed to win 2-0 taking all 3 points. Match score so far 4-2 to Rangers. Next up DJ Wayne vs Rob who showed his dominance in these games with a 2-0 win. The Restaurant back in the lead… score of 4-5. The 3rd singles brought in the quiet and methodical Mo against Giorgos. Mo was lacking in his normal potting ability allowing Giorgos to take full advantage to win 2-0 further extending the Restaurant team lead to 4-8. Match 4 saw Pete the Potter take on Mike who won the 1st game. Pete fought back, managing to win the second game, leaving a decider. After a missed black by Peter, Mike, still hobbling from his op, showed us he has not lost any of his potting prowess to claim the win giving the Restaurant team a big advantage. Match score now 5-9. Match 5 saw Terry, the man always on a mission take on Pampos. Under pressure Terry’s reliable potting and skill shone through to win 2-0 gaining valuable points to take Rangers just 1 point behind the Restaurant team with just one match to play. Last match was a captain’s decider with Demetris only needing one point to claim a win for his team. A valiant effort by Michelle could not stop Demetris’ attack and he took the point required. Payback achieved! The final game of the night also went in favor of Demetris to give the Restaurant team a final victory. A good night was had by all. And as usual the delicious food by the Restaurant was enjoyed by all players.
